Treating alopecia with PRP. Anti hair loss treatment for both women and men.

Hair problems are a significant burden on people's lives, causing emotional and psychosocial stress. In over 63% of people suffering from alopecia, its negative impact on the quality of life was found.

Depending on the type of baldness, there are some methods of hair loss treatments available like: minoxidil and finasteride, oral administration of biotin or multivitamins or glucocorticoids.

BUT! There is more and more focus on non-surgical method that utilises the body's natural regenerative processes. We are talking here about PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma. This treatment, in a minimally invasive way, contributes to increasing the amount of hair and improving its condition. It can be a complementary therapy to pharmacological and surgical treatment or alternative in the case of patients with contraindications to the use of drugs and hair follicle transplantation.

The self-regulating (homeostatic) and anti-inflammatory effect of platelet-rich plasma was noticed in the 80's of the last century!

There is also an increasing use of PRP platelet-rich plasma treatments in aesthetics. For example PRP on face has stimulating effect on fibroblasts in the skin, responsible for the production of type I collagen. Injections with PRP accelerate tissue regeneration, wound healing and scar remodelling. The beneficial effect of platelet-rich plasma on hair regrowth has also been noticed. Thanks to this, it is now used as a new form of therapy for androgenetic alopecia and areata.

The effect of PRP in the treatment of hair loss is based on cytokines and Growth Factors - GFs affecting the morphogenesis of the hair and its cycle. Active biomolecules also stimulate the formation of new vessels (neovascularisation), which contributes to the improvement of blood supply to the scalp. After the release of Growth factors, they cause the multiplication and regeneration of hair cells, extending the hair growth phase, accelerating hair growth and the formation of perifollicular vessels.

PRP treatment process

Platelet-rich plasma PRP treatment involves collecting a small amount of blood from the client and then spinning the collected material in specially designed centrifuges. The obtained PRP fraction is administered in the form of mesotherapy or intradermal deposits within the scalp.

One of the advantages of platelet-rich plasma it that it is possible to combine injections with other treatment methods. It is often used pre- and post- hair transplantation.
