HYALURONIC ACID DERMAL FILLERS

Did you know that many visible signs of aging can be traced back to volume loss? As facial tissues thin out, lines become etched around the nose and mouth and cheeks look a little hollow.

Dermal fillers can replace lost volume to help smooth wrinkles, plump the lips, and restore a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or enhance facial contours.

Dermal filler injections are ideal to:

  • Smooth out lines around nose and mouth such marionette lines, smile lines

  • Enhance & restore volume to sunken cheeks

  • Plump & enhance the lips

  • Smooth out a pebbled chin

  • Improve symmetry among facial features

Would you like to get rid of furrows? Or perhaps you'd like to shape your chin or plump up your lips?

The answer might be dermal filler with hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is a commonly used, raw material, used in medicine, pharmacy and cosmetics. One of its uses is as a biodegradable, non-permanent implant.

Depending on the type of preparation used, injection treatments with hyaluronic acid can be divided into three main groups:

  1. Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid

  2. Filling lines and wrinkles with hyaluronic acid

  3. Volumetry using hyaluronic acid.

Products composed of cross-linked hyaluronic acid are used for the above indications. The higher the degree of cross-linking, the harder the gel is and the longer it stays in the skin.

Hyaluronic acid is also present in one of the unique Profhilo stimulants, which is thermally cross-linked without the addition of chemical ingredients. In non-cross-linked form, it is present in mesotherapy formulas.

Benefits of using HA dermal filler:

A significant advantage of using hyaluronic acid fillings is the immediate effect in the form of shallowing the folds, enlarging the lips or adding volume to the areas that need it.

In addition, hyaluronic acid is a biocompatible and safe substance that has been used in medicine and cosmetics for a long time. Thanks to this, its impact on health has been thoroughly researched.

Although, at first glance, gradual dissolution by the body may seem as a disadvantage, it is in fact an advantage. With time, the skin ages, sags and, after years, the implant, which was placed once, may not fit any more, whereas the hyaluronic acid may actually be necessary in another area. Therefore, thanks to biodegradability, this acid has gained an advantage over permanent implants. Its location can be monitored on an ongoing basis and administered into places that currently require it.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural polysaccharide found in all organisms and has the same chemical structure in bacteria and mammals. It is a component of the dermal cell matrix and has very good water-binding properties. There is a sufficient amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin of young people, but with age, it begins to decline, which makes the skin to lose its elasticity and so wrinkles appear.

In medicine, its properties are used in orthopedics, ophthalmology, proctology, otolaryngology and gynecology. This proves that it is a safe substance.

Mechanism of action

Due to cross-linking, hyaluronic acid has the form of a gel, which, when injected into selected areas, increases their volume. This allows for the shallowing of wrinkles, cavities and furrows, filling and enlargement of the lips and superstructure in bone points, which nicely outlines the contour of the face.

Can hyaluronic acid cause allergies?

Due to the fact that hyaluronic acid has an identical structure in all mammals and bacteria, it would seem that its use is completely free from the risk of allergies. A one hundred percent biocompatible substance should not induce it at all. It turns out, however, that after using hyaluronic acid filling, allergic reactions occasionally occur. How to explain it? There may be several reasons why an allergy to a hyaluronic acid preparation appears.

  • Allergy to lidocaine contained in the hyaluronic acid preparation.

  • Allergy to the cross-linking agent present in the preparation.

  • Allergy to donor proteins after insufficient purification of hyaluronic acid and other contaminants of the preparation (high risk occurs in cheap, untested acids).

In our clinic, we use only the highest quality preparations, the safety of which is confirmed by reliable scientific research, such as Toesyal, Belotero, Restylane or Juvederm.

Contraindications for the use of hyaluronic acid Dermal Fillers:

Contraindications to the use of hyaluronic acid in the form of fillings can be divided into absolute and relative ones.

The absolute contraindications are:

  • pregnancy and lactation

  • taking systemic corticosteroids

  • decompensated diabetes

  • active inflammation in the treatment area (including herpes)

  • purulent changes

  • autoimmune diseases

  • permanent fillers in the treatment area

  • active disease

The relative contraindications:

  • age under 18

  • tendency to keloids

  • taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

  • thin, atrophic skin

  • taking anticoagulants

  • granulomatous inflammation

  • connective tissue diseases

  • recent dermabrasion, chemical peeling or aesthetic medicine treatment

  • recent trauma

  • unrealistic expectations

When will I see the results?

The result is visible immediately after the procedure. However, the body reacts to the intervention in the form of punctures and the introduction of the gel with swelling, which lasts from several days to 3 weeks after the procedure, depending on individual predispositions, so the effect may initially seem exaggerated.

A good example of this are the lips – their volume decreases after the swelling descends by an average of 30%.
The day after the procedure, the greatest swelling is often observed.

What will the skin look like after the procedure?

Immediately after the treatment, the skin is most often red and swollen. Bruising may appear. You may feel sore (especially in the mouth area) when the anesthetic has stopped working.

How often should this treatment be repeated?

If the effect of one treatment is fully satisfactory, the treatment should be repeated only when the expected progressive loss of hyaluronic acid spoils the expected result. If you are still not satisfied with the procedure and you want to correct it, wait until it heals completely.
